Pecan Sandies -Sally

1 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cream of tartar
3/4 tsp. salt
2 cups flour
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream together the first column of ingredients. Blend in remaining ingredients. Roll dough into balls and smash lightly with a spoon. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes.
