Buttermilk Syrup -Lynn

(This recipe is a little different than the recipe in Atlasta Cookbook.)

1 cup margarine
2 cups buttermilk (I use milk- even used powdered and canned in a pinch)
4 cups sugar
1/2 cup karo
4 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda

Melt margarine; add buttermilk, sugar, and karo. Stir. Bring to a boil, lower heat a bit and simmer 4 minutes. Add vanilla and baking soda. Stir. The mixture will bubble up high, so use a deep pan!
