1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. sugar
2/3 cup milk
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 cup shortening
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening. Add milk and stir quickly with a fork. Knead, then roll out 1/2 inch thick. Cut biscuits and place on an ungreased sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 450°.
