Sally Lewis's Clam Chowder -Lynn

2 cans minced clams (I use only 1/2 this amount)
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup chopped celery
1 quart Half & Half
2-4 cups potatoes
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 cup real butter
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. sugar

Cube potatoes and boil until tender. Drain. Saute onions and celery in butter- I like them still a little bit crunchy. Stir flour into milk. Add all ingredients together and heat until thick, stirring often so it won't burn or stick.
