Rainbow Jell-O Salad -Jane

1 1/2 pints sour cream
1 (3 oz.) box of each of the following flavors of jell-O:
Lime
Lemon
Orange
Strawberry
Cherry
Grape

Dissolve each 3 oz. package of Jell-O in 1 cup boiling water, then separate each color into two containers. Make the "creamy" layer of each flavor by adding 1/3 cup sour cream to half of the dissolved mixture. Gently stir with a fork to avoid creating foamy bubbles. Make "clear" layer of each flavor by adding 3 Tbsp. cold water to the remaining halves of the dissolved mixtures.

Begin "rainbow" by pouring one creamy layer into a 9x13 pan, sprayed lightly with Pam. Tilt pan so the Jell-O covers the bottom evenly, then chill for a minimum of 30 minutes. After the creamy layer to set, gently spoon the clear layer over it, tilting the pan again to spread the Jell-O evenly. Repeat creamy and clear layering process with each flavor in the order listed above. Top with cool whip if desired.
